Specialty Technology Applications

This area of WVConnectiivty.net is aimed to introduce small businesses to several types of speciality applications -- some of which are provided via the web (ASPs):

  • Human Resources
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Financial/Accounting
  • e-Commerce
  • e-Procurement
  • e-Survey

ASPs -- ASPs (application service providers) are companies that offer organizations access over the Internet to software applications and related services that would otherwise have to be sold and then loaded on a personal computer or an company's computers. An ASP allows a company to effectively "rent" software and web services on an as-needed basis. ASP software and services have been around for a number of years; however, it is only with the availability of broadband Internet access that their use has become a viable option for businesses.

Now, small companies -- with broadband -- can use these leading-edge software and services at highly affordable prices by effectively using (leasing) them via their broadband connections. And since the software is web-based  any upgrades and new functionality don't require a business to buy new versions or load new components.

This availability and cost-effectiveness of web-based applications and hosted software solutions is giving small businesses a level playing field with larger competitors, and it's broadband connectivity that's helped make the difference.
